Expert travel writer:
Lucy Gillmore
About
Lucy was the Deputy Travel Editor of The Independent for eight years before moving to Scotland and going freelance. She has written for a variety of publications over the past 10 years including the Times, Observer, Conde Nast Traveller, National Geographic Traveller, Sunday Times Travel magazine, House and Garden and Food & Travel. She also has a special interest in green and sustainable travel.
Background
After a year travelling around South America, her first love, Lucy realised that that was how she wanted to spend her life – writing and travelling. Back in the UK she landed her dream job on the travel desk of a national newspaper eventually going freelance and moving up to the Scottish Highlands, her other great love.
Also specialising in food and drink-themed travel, one of the things she loves most is meeting passionate producers along the way, whether it’s a biodynamic winemaker-cum-snail farmer in France or an organic brewer and forager in Fife.
On the bucket list
To sail to Antarctica on a research vessel, to track wolves in Yellowstone National Park, to photograph brown bears in Kamchatka and to trek in Australia’s Flinders Range.
