About
Claire began her career as a news journalist before moving into travel 20 years ago. In recent years she has written for The Telegraph, Wanderlust Magazine, the Times, Condé Nast Traveller, the Guardian, Sunday Times Travel Magazine, and the Independent, BBC Travel, and Time Out. She has been writing about Cuba for more than 20 years. Claire has written guides and features to both Vietnam and Laos, and to Marrakech, and Guatemala.
Background
Claire first went to Cuba for Christmas 1998 after Fidel Castro reintroduced Christmas Day as a public holiday after a 30-year ban. She was hooked immediately and has been returning ever since — for the people, the music, the nature and the architecture. She has visited more than 90 times. Vietnam and Laos captured her heart in 2004 after she was asked by a guidebook company to go and work in the region.
