This chic and intimate hotel has an unbeatable ski-in, ski-out location, just 20 yards from Taos’ main chairlift. But it’s the hotel’s museum-worthy art collection and flawless service that guests rave about most –
the hallways that lead to the well-appointed rooms, suites and penthouses are lined with rare Georgia O’Keeffe lithographs and Gustave Baumann prints. Guests can request an art tour from the main desk.
The text-based concierge service makes booking restaurants or ski guides super-easy, and the eucalyptus-infused steam rooms are just the ticket after a day’s skiing.
This is a great family option in one of America’s most unique ski resorts.
About the resort
High in the craggy peaks of New Mexico’s Sangre de Cristo Mountains is the resort of Taos. The resort was founded in the 1950s by a Swiss ski pioneer Ernie Blake (after whom The Blake hotel is named), who was enamoured by the steep bowls and big cliffs that cling to the famous Kachina Peak – this is an expert skier’s dream playground.
Saying that, the resort has made efforts to be more friendly for novices and families in recent years, with the opening of a new beginner area and children’s centre.
